End of summer tip:

waterWith many warm days still to come, it’s important to remember to hydrate. Did you know that simply

drinking water when you’re thirsty is not good enough to hydrate your body? By the time you feel

thirsty, you are already dehydrated. You should be drinking water days in advance to fully hydrate

yourself.

In fact, if you allow yourself to become dehydrated, you will chemically stress your body out and cause it

to store fat. This occurs because you are not allowing the body to flush the toxins from it and this will

cause an increased inflammatory state due to toxicity. This toxic state is a chemical stress that will cause

a spike in cortisol which in turn will cause an insulin response. This chronic increased insulin response

causes the body to store fat.

There are many sports drinks that claim to hydrate and provide electrolyte replenishment. However,

these drinks, often times, are loaded with sugar. Sugar is a major component that causes inflammation,

which promotes cortisol production and in turn will elicit an insulin response. These drinks will,

ultimately, be more harmful, because of the sugar/toxin mix that they provide leading to fat storing.

Water is best for hydration. A general rule to help you drink enough water is to drink half your body

weight in ounces of water. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, you should be drinking 75 ounces of

water a day. Drinking half your body weight in ounces of water daily, will help maintain a well hydrated

body. This will enable it to eliminate the toxins and decrease this chemical stress, making it easier for

you to lose weight.
